A fond memory of the ferry to Dún Laoghaire
I received a very touching note from a reader (in response to my article about the cruise ships in The Irish Times).
In September 2014 he travelled on the second last sailing of the Stena car ferry from Dún Laoghaire to Holyhead, after burying his wife in Ireland. “I will always remember my first time by ferry to Ireland back in 1972. As I drove out of the harbour, on the other side of the road was the red-haired [woman] who was to be my wife for the next forty years.” |
